Game Day Details

Players sign up as individuals with a maximum of 72 players and 6 goalies. Each player is guaranteed 3 games. In a random draw, players will be placed onto teams of 4 players. Your “foursome” will be together for the tournament. There will be 18 foursomes and 6 goalies (Goalies remain as individuals and are not  placed on a specific team). 

Game Format

Players sign up as individuals with a maximum of 20 players and 2 goalies. Each player is guaranteed 2 periods of ice time with NHL alumni in a charity game. Teams will be selected in advance. Each player is asked to fundraise $500 to provide critical funding to support Easter Seals Camp Horizon.

This game consists of 2 periods of play for 20 minutes, including an intermission with a sledge hockey demonstration.

Game Rules

The game is two 20-minute periods of continuous play. There are no faceoffs or stoppages. When a goal is scored the scoring team must clear the zone. 

Offsides: When the ref whistles offside the offensive team must dump the puck and clear the zone.

Penalties: When the ref whistles penalties the game remains in play. Ref will track penalties and penalties are taken as penalty shots at the end of the game. 

Fighting will not be tolerated. Anyone fighting is tossed from the tourney.

Please arrive at the outdoor arena in Bragg Creek by 2:00 pm, in order for the game to start promptly at 2:30 pm.

LIVE SLEDGE HOCKEY DEMONSTRATION AT 3:00 PM. 

All community members, family and friends are invited to attend to learn about Sledge Hockey. What is sledge hockey? Sledge hockey is a Paralympic sport played at all levels around the world. The game incorporates some additional technologies to allow for the greatest amount of participation. It is an innovative team sport that incorporates the same rules and strategies as stand up ice hockey. Sledge Hockey players sit on specially designed sleds with skate blades under the seat and use two sticks, not only to pass, stick handle and shoot the puck but also to propel and maneuver their sleds. All hockey gear including a full face shield and a neck protector are required to play sledge hockey.
